About The Position

We are currently looking for a Field Project Lead, Transmission. The Field Projects Lead is accountable for the execution of the transmission line capital program work plan, and the provision of technical and field support for the execution of capital projects. Travel across the province is required. You will be responsible for personal safety, that of co-workers, and those under your direction by observing and ensuring compliance with all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. You will be accountable for environmental performance as it relates to the environment management system processes and initiatives.

Requirements

  • Certified as a Powerline Technician or have relevant work experience with Transmission and Distribution line construction.
  • Hold a valid Nova Scotia driver’s license.
  • Demonstrate an ability to function well in a team environment and be able to work independently when needed.
  • Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and have proven problem resolution skills with the flexibility and ability to adapt to rescheduled assignments.
  • Available for after-hour consultation and emergency power restoration work.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site project management of contractor resources for projects that you are assigned to travel across the province.
  • Participating in start-up meetings, outage coordination, and communicating with customers or stakeholders that will be impacted by the work performed.
  • Coordinate switching procedures or hold offs with the Energy Desk for the work to be completed.
  • Participate in weekly meetings to review reliability analysis and transmission line performance to identify and prioritize investments for the transmission line capital and maintenance programs.
  • Assist with maintaining the transmission inspection database and developing Work Orders.
  • Quality Assurance checks for pre and post work execution to ensure compliance with standards and drawings.
  • Approving contractor change requests and resolving disputes to support the billing processes.
  • Ensure the safe and effective completion of emergency and reactive maintenance work on Nova Scotia Power’s Transmission System.
  • Participate in the Transmission Line Coordinator standby rotation and provide restoration response during transmission line interruptions, including helicopter patrols of transmission lines.
