About The Position

Syblon Reid is seeking a Field Project Engineer to join our team in Northern CA. This role will support our onsite Project Manager and field crews on heavy civil construction projects. The Field Project Engineer is crucial for ensuring project work progresses safely, accurately, and efficiently by bridging the gap between field activities and essential project functions such as planning, documentation, communication, production tracking, and problem-solving. We are a professional and hardworking team that values connection, accountability, teamwork, and a willingness to contribute wherever needed. This position offers a dynamic experience for individuals who enjoy variety, field exposure, technical challenges, and contributing to unique construction projects. Project assignments and future locations are determined by business needs, and mobility is essential for long-term success in these roles. Candidates should be open to exploring new opportunities, including temporary relocation or rotational travel schedules to support active project sites.

Requirements

  • Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or equivalent Project Coordination experience
  • 1–5 years of Field Project experience in a heavy civil construction environment
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Strong organization skills
  • Strong follow-through skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
  • Comfortable working in the field, walking uneven surfaces, lifting and carrying up to 75 lbs., and supporting project needs in changing environments
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, and Word
  • A current driver’s license and acceptable driving record
  • Authorized to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with federal contracting
  • Experience with HeavyBid, HeavyJob, Primavera, or AutoCAD

Responsibilities

  • Promoting and supporting project safety programs, processes, and safety culture
  • Preparing and tracking submittments and RFIs
  • Supporting project scheduling
  • Tracking and reporting field production, cost estimates, and invoices
  • Maintaining QC program documentation
  • Coordinating with subcontractors
  • Preparing quantity take-offs and pricing
  • Procuring materials
  • Supporting field employees and project crews
  • Conducting pre-bid and project field visits
  • Traveling overnight as project needs require
