About The Position

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) is seeking a detail-oriented, intermittent, part-time Field/Phone Enumerator. This role supports the organization by collecting agricultural data. The position offers flexible hours and the opportunity to work remotely within your community. NASDA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit association representing agriculture departments from all fifty states and four U.S. territories. Founded in 1916, NASDA's mission is to grow and enhance American agriculture through policies, partnerships, and public engagement. Since 1972, NASDA has employed enumerators to collect agricultural data on behalf of the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). NASDA strives to create a positive work environment and seeks employees passionate about agriculture.

Requirements

  • Experience multitasking in an energetic, deadline-oriented work environment.
  • Ability to positively represent NASDA and the benefits of enumerators in all survey actions.
  • Ability to make crop counts in designated fields.
  • Ability to maintain a reliable personal vehicle.
  • Ability to conduct interviews in person or by telephone with farm operators and other individuals.
  • Knowledge about computers or iPads.
  • Candidates must reside within the advertised State (California, MO).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to demonstrate good time management in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated.
  • Enjoy working as part of a team.
  • Organized.
  • Ability to maintain a positive and friendly attitude.

Responsibilities

  • Serve agricultural producers by providing reliable, accurate, and objective statistics and information.
  • Actively interview farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural businesses either in person or on the phone.
  • Travel to designated fields to perform crop counts.
  • Maintain and deliver detailed and legible records of interviews, crop counts, mileage, expenditures, and hours worked.
  • Conduct enumerator work from a residence with an operable telephone free from distractions.
  • Maintain a personal vehicle for travel to perform field enumerator duties.
