About The Position

Sunrun, America's #1 home solar and battery company since 2007, is seeking a Field Performance Technician. This role is crucial for managing, scheduling, and completing all service and warranty-related work. The Field Performance Technician will work independently and as part of the Performance O&M team, interacting closely with customers, Branch Managers, Senior Electrical Foremen, Construction Supervisors, and the centralized scheduling Field Service Team. Requirements

  • High School diploma required.
  • 1-3 years of previous field construction or solar experience required.
  • Must maintain a clean driving record with the ability to pass a driving background check.
  • Must be 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of the NEC and applicable codes and standards.
  • Must be a motivated team player, looking to succeed.
  • Proven track record of excellent customer service.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Working knowledge of current NEC codes.
  • Ability to interpret single line drawings and PV systems from roof to meter.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of electrical principles as it pertains to solar interconnection/tie-in and code and how PV systems operate.
  • Understands interconnection activities.
  • Understands basic construction principles.
  • Adheres to company safety policies and procedures including ability to identify and report safety hazards, and the ability to encourage others to work safely.
  • Ability to establish rapport, build relationships and loyalty with external and internal customers and coworkers, and remains tactful when communicating.
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines and key metrics.
  • Works independently, as a team player, and drives results in a fast paced, team based environment.

Nice To Haves

  • PV design or PV electrical experience is preferred.
  • Valid state or local Electrical Journeyman certification or license preferred.
  • Depending on state requirements an Electrical Journeyman certification or license may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and resolve solar electric warranty and service issues related to modules, inverters, monitoring, and balance of system components.
  • Investigate and mitigate reported roof leaks, including thorough documentation (roof leak checklist, photos, written observations).
  • Communicate with Construction Supervisors and Engineering Team members to resolve redline issues.
  • Receive, update, and complete Field Service Dispatches (FSDs) using the Service Dashboard in Salesforce.
  • Ensure timely communication and completion of service and warranty work with an emphasis on safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Develop and refine processes and gain technical skills related to service work for residential solar photovoltaic systems, following department policy to prepare for advanced technical skills as FPT2.
