About The Position

The Process Field Operator reports to the Process Shift Supervisor and takes direction from the Console Operator. The role serves as the primary point of contact for field operations and related equipment during assigned shifts, ensuring safe, efficient, and reliable LNG facility operations in collaboration with Operations and Maintenance teams. The operator supports plant performance, production plans, and product quality while responding to operational issues, upsets, and emergencies. The position also supports pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and initial operations for pretreatment, liquefaction, storage, and loading systems. It involves operating and inspecting plant equipment, maintaining operational records and safety documentation, supporting permit-to-work processes, and contributing to operating procedures and operator training. The job is performed in an industrial plant environment, indoors and outdoors, with substantial outdoor activity and exposure to year-round weather, ocean conditions, and noise. Limited travel and temporary assignments may be required.

Requirements

Associate degree in a related field, relevant military training, or equivalent experience.
High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) is required.
Three to five years of operations experience in the energy industry.
Maintain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card in good standing.
Comprehensive understanding of process plant operations, systems, equipment, and underlying principles, with the ability to apply that knowledge to operational decisions.
Strong safety awareness and judgment in hazardous industrial environments.
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to communicate across organizational levels and with multidisciplinary teams, external stakeholders, and government agencies.
Ability to collaborate within culturally diverse technical teams supporting liquefaction production facility operations and maintenance.
Ability to build and maintain respectful, productive working relationships with management, peers, and facility personnel.
Strong organization, planning, and time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple activities and programs accurately and meet deadlines.
Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Access, Project, and PowerPoint, basic office tools, and time reporting systems.
Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
Knowledge of utility and support systems, including air, water, sanitation, nitrogen, electrical power generation, ship unloading systems, and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) operations.
Knowledge of safety-critical systems, including emergency shutdown (ESD), fire and gas detection, and suppression systems.
Familiarity with basic machinery diagnostics and process control systems, including distributed control systems (DCS).
Operational knowledge of LNG facilities, including LNG plant operations, theories, and principles; in-tank and ex-tank pumps; storage tanks; submerged combustion vaporizers; boil-off gas (BOG) and vapor return blowers; major compressors, turbines, and anti-surge systems; and acid gas removal and dehydration systems.
Ability to pass regularly scheduled physical examinations mandated by regulatory authorities.
Ability to obtain mandated certifications by attending company-sponsored training in basic first aid, CPR, AED, and LNG firefighting.

Responsibilities

Operate and monitor field process equipment in accordance with company safety and environmental policies, maintaining regulatory compliance, reliability, and efficiency.
Promptly report safety and environmental concerns, incidents, and irregularities.
Maintain operable systems for emergency response and serve as first-line incident controller, completing associated safety and environmental documentation.
Assist with pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and initial operation of pretreatment, liquefaction, storage, and loading systems with integrated commissioning and startup teams and the EPC contractor.
Serve as the shift focal point for process-related field operations, coordinate with the DCS Operator–Process, and communicate process changes that affect upstream or downstream facilities.
Control and monitor process operations within defined limits and procedures to meet production plans and product quality specifications; troubleshoot issues and respond to upsets or emergencies.
Support and apply equipment clearance and permit-to-work systems, including PTW/LOTO, job safety analysis, work authorization, confined space, and hot work.
Align and adjust plant systems and equipment as directed, operate manual/local pumps and valves and PLC/control systems, and collect, analyze, and enter operational data.
Conduct equipment inspections and operational rounds, interpret instrumentation, meter, and gauge readings, and record information in shift logs according to plant procedures.
Monitor off-loading of aqueous ammonia and other bulk chemicals, ensuring safe and compliant handling.
Provide technical and procedural support during the shift to identify reliability issues and communicate them to relevant departments.
Participate in developing and updating operating procedures, manuals, and the Operations Training Program.
Mentor plant operators and trainees by providing job assignments, on-the-job coaching, and progress monitoring.
Maintain skills and qualifications through scheduled refresher training and continuous learning.
