About The Position

As a Supervisor, Operations, you will lead the safe, reliable operation and maintenance of the gas distribution system within your designated area. In this role, you will oversee a team of skilled unionized frontline employees, ensuring work is completed efficiently, safely, and in alignment with company standards while building strong relationships across internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Related university degree and seven-plus years’ experience OR nine‐plus years of previous field operations experience, OR equivalent mix of formal education and experience.
  • Ability to understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information.
  • Ability to understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions.
  • Ability to organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis.
  • Ability to make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area.
  • Ability to understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines.
  • Ability to complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports.
  • Ability to communicate with individuals via telephone.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of 8–10 unionized frontline employees, fostering a strong safety culture and supporting professional growth.
  • Supervise and coordinate utility services work within your assigned operational area to ensure timely, high-quality execution.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, standards, and procedures, with accountability for environmental, health, and safety performance.
  • Provide emergency response leadership and participate in an on-call after-hours duty supervisor rotation as required.
  • Plan and manage workloads, budgets, and performance targets, while monitoring employee productivity and operational efficiency.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams, partners, and regulatory bodies.
  • Promote Plant Damage Prevention Awareness and ensure all required training is completed to support safe, compliant work execution.
