About The Position

As a Field Operations Supervisor, you will be responsible for managing all MetroNet outside field operations in the assigned geographic area, ensuring the efficient and timely completion of customer fulfillment requests for premise installation and repair. You will also support the video engineering and facilities engineering departments with hub site maintenance activities. This role is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of our field services and contributing to the growth of our fiber-optic network.

Requirements

  • Prior hands-on experience with the installation and maintenance of customer inside wire
  • Ability to use a spectrum analyzer, OTDR, and other fault diagnosis tools to support field personnel in 2nd tier technical support circumstances
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to model respect for others by listening well, encouraging others, and promptly returning phone calls/e-mails
  • Ability to keep commitments to customers, suppliers, and other team members

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the selection, hiring, and career development of all field technicians.
  • Establish and maintain a standard for equipping technicians with tools and test sets.
  • Manage company tools and test set inventory and address loss issues.
  • Develop a supporting training and skills development curriculum for new and existing employees.
  • Manage workplace safety and provide safety training.
  • Manage productivity and quality of work at the individual employee level.
  • Ensure technicians exhibit a customer-friendly attitude and deliver an excellent customer experience.
  • Monitor quality control of installation work, conduct on-site QC surveys, and track QC compliance.
  • Resolve customer complaints by investigating service and damage issues and taking appropriate action.
  • Procure and coordinate installation activities of contractors as needed.
  • Develop and maintain a district out-of-hours call-out schedule.
  • Provide support to video engineering and facilities engineering departments with hub site planning and maintenance.
  • Assist video and network engineering teams with hub site planning (location, size, appearance, layout).
  • Support the monitoring and maintenance of hub site electronics and peripheral systems.
  • Assist with troubleshooting equipment failures and service-affecting problems.
  • Rapidly respond to security or equipment alarms.
  • Support Outside Plant (OSP) with repair and maintenance activities.
  • Work with OSP manager to develop OSP preventative maintenance routines.
  • Provide assistance with OSP repair and restoration activities.
  • Review underground plant locate requests and ensure accurate locating of facilities.
  • Ensure OSHA, NESC, NEC, and MetroNet safety regulations are followed.
  • Stay up-to-date with FCC and other regulatory requirements.
  • Support storefront manager with local utility relations.
  • Manage personal and vehicle safety.
  • Ensure productivity and work quality.
  • Maintain punctual attendance.
  • Manage vehicle inventory, tools, and test set utilization.
