About The Position

The Field Operations Manager will support the Global Automation Engineering department by managing a team of field technicians and engineers responsible for installing, maintaining, servicing, and troubleshooting complex automated systems. Working as an integral part of the Global Automation Engineering team, the Field Operations Manager will ensure that the Field team members are properly trained and educated on all of the equipment designed and built by the GEA team. The Field Operations manager is critical to the delivery, maintenance, and overall success of the automation programs through proactive maintenance, effective scheduling of field resources, and outstanding customer service. This is an onsite role in our Mt. Juliet TN facility with a schedule of Monday - Friday, 8AM - 5PM.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of field operations, service, commissioning, preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, or related automated electro-mechanical systems experience.
  • Prior leadership, supervisory, or team lead experience in field operations, service, commissioning, troubleshooting, or related automated electromechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in employee oversight, scheduling, workforce coordination, and performance management.
  • In depth knowledge of automation and robotics industry standards and best practices.
  • Experience supporting field operations involving large scale installation of automation and robotic systems.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and communicate technical and operational information effectively including, system drawings, schematics, and other related engineering documents.
  • Experience with MS Office software, including Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must be highly organized, collaborative, and self-motivated, with excellent attention to detail.
  • Must be customer service oriented and capable of providing professional customer and internal communication.

Nice To Haves

  • 7+ years of related training and experience in a technical, engineering, or science-oriented field; or an equivalent combination of both education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with individuals from all levels of the Assurant organization.
  • Ability to maintain a steady demeanor while managing team members and multiple dynamic projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong influencing skills to manage resources indirectly to meet project deadlines.
  • Ability to handle a variety of situations and tasks with minimal direction from senior management.
  • Must possess the ability to interface with customers, vendors, and executives on a daily basis, have a strong business development attitude, and the ability to handle sensitive situations in a mature and confidential manner.
  • Ability to approach issues logically and strategically.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage day-to-day field team operations.
  • Provide oversight, coaching, and leadership to field technicians and engineers.
  • Oversee scheduling and deployment of field teams to support build, installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities as needed from the GEA department.
  • Provide product and service expertise to support technicians and engineers, internal staff, customers, and sales teams with technical questions, issue resolution, and service related guidance.
  • Ensure successful completion, documentation, and closeout of commissioning and field operation assignments in accordance with customer requirements, internal standards and project timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, quality standards, performance expectations, and safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with operational leadership team to identify and address staffing gaps, shifting priorities, escalation needs, and operational challenges.
  • Work with clients and internal teams to address urgent emergency service needs; coordinate and dispatch field resources where appropriate.
  • Monitor workforce utilization and report to management when resources are insufficient, not effectively utilized, or when customer requests exceed reasonable operational capacity.
  • Travel to customer facilities as required, to support employees, business needs, and leadership coordination.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor or management to support the ongoing evolving needs of the business.
