About The Position

The Field Operations Manager will be responsible for controlling expenses, identifying and acting on new business opportunities, managing promotional activities, achieving POP objectives, driving sales, ensuring operational excellence, engaging with stakeholders, and managing people. This role requires a strong understanding of the FMCG environment and involves significant client and team interaction.

Responsibilities

  • Control cell phone/telephone expenses, fuel, vehicle, training, travel, stationary, and overtime expenses.
  • Identify and act on new business opportunities, ensuring effective data collection and analysis for insights and sales improvements.
  • Plan and implement sales operations based on sales data and monitor new innovations and competitor activities.
  • Inform the field force of new innovations, monitor speed to market and stock levels, and negotiate with store managers.
  • Distribute trade presenters, provide feedback to clients, monitor sales of new innovations, and manage staff in-store communication and feedback.
  • Facilitate the implementation of promotion grids, communicate promotional activities to the field force, and ensure understanding of promotion objectives.
  • Ensure POS material is distributed to stores, sufficient stock is ordered, and promotional activities are implemented and maintained.
  • Analyze and manage data integrity for field communications.
  • Manage the implementation of generic and store-specific planograms and category flows.
  • Provide feedback to clients regarding forward share changes and ensure it's reflected on the shelf as per the rate of sale.
  • Ensure market share is reflected in the category and manage the implementation and maintenance of shelf health.
  • Identify in-store cross-merchandising opportunities, ensure stock pressure and limit out-of-stocks.
  • Ensure forward share reflects ROS, monitor in-store pricing, minimize credit notes, and drive ad-hoc promotions.
  • Manage resources for efficient day-to-day operations of store execution, including flexible people and resource allocation.
  • Continuously monitor service delivery and ensure the implementation of systems to promote efficiency.
  • Implement sales initiatives and value-adding store operations, and ensure all company assets are maintained.
  • Provide continuous feedback to clients regarding competitor activities, promotions, ROS, product recalls, innovations, pricing, planograms, and urgent deliveries.
  • Liaise with customers and depots regarding stock pressure, stock holdings, new innovations, deliveries, credit notes, special deliveries, staff, ROS, price, reviews, category flows, and planograms.
  • Compile trade visit reports, trade contact reports, and regular reports to Regional Managers.
  • Conduct review meetings with clients and provide feedback via feedback platforms.
  • Take full responsibility for performance management of direct reports, including recruitment, induction, training, rewards, succession planning, and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with leave, dress code, health and safety, and staff welfare.
  • Ensure accurate in-store administration, provide updated stocking files, and support staff with in-store conflict/issues.
  • Manage Employment Equity targets and ensure appropriate levels of management and accountability.
  • Motivate, delegate, and empower appropriately, enabling direct reports to take responsibility and display creativity and initiative.
