About The Position

We are looking for an experienced Field Operations Manager to oversee and support field teams working on railroad emergency response, derailment recovery, specialty lifting, railcar repair, and track-related projects. This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who can manage people, make decisions in the field, resolve operational issues, and maintain a strong focus on safety and customer service. The Manager will work closely with Supervisors and field crews and may respond directly to emergency service situations.

Requirements

  • Leadership experience in railroad, heavy equipment, construction, emergency response, or related field operations preferred.
  • Experience leading teams in demanding field environments.
  • Strong understanding of DOT and FRA regulations.
  • Class A or Class B CDL preferred.
  • Experience operating or working around heavy equipment such as cranes, trucks, excavators, and similar machinery.
  • Ability to read and understand crane load charts and rigging requirements.
  • Strong communication, leadership, coaching, and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn operational software systems.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to complete required safety training and certification programs.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and support Supervisors across multiple field assignments.
  • Coordinate manpower, work assignments, schedules, equipment, and project priorities.
  • Monitor field activities to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with DOT, FRA, and company requirements.
  • Visit active job sites to evaluate safety, quality, productivity, and overall operations.
  • Provide hands-on guidance, coaching, and problem-solving support to field personnel.
  • Respond to operational issues and emergency service calls when needed.
  • Identify potential risks and take action to resolve field and operational challenges.
  • Maintain communication and working relationships with customers, field partners, and regulatory agencies.
  • Train, coach, and develop employees while supporting hiring and performance evaluations.
  • Assist with workforce planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Review and maintain accurate payroll, labor-hour, equipment-use, and project records.
  • Monitor the condition and availability of equipment and coordinate repairs, maintenance, or replacement.
  • Assist with customer development and relationship management.
  • Participate in industry events and other activities that support business growth.
