About The Position

Since 1898, Bechtel has helped customers complete more than 25,000 projects in 160 countries on all seven continents. The Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (PCAPP) will safely destroy 2,611 tons of mustard agent in mortar rounds and artillery projectiles stored at the U.S. Army Pueblo Chemical Depot (PCD) approximately 25 miles from Pueblo, Colorado. Neutralization followed by biotreatment is the technology selected by the Department of Defense to destroy the Pueblo chemical weapons stockpile. The Field Engineer will support demolition planning and execution as well as other final Closure activities. This position reports to the Demolition Manager and supports the PFE and the SPE to ensure that Closure Phase 2 work (primarily demolition and backfill) has been completed in accordance with premitting and regulatory requirements. As time allows, this position also performs LOTO Subcontact Technical Rep (STR) duties, ensuring that subcontracted work is performed in accordance with required processes and standards.

Requirements

  • Required bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 5-8 years of relevant experience or 9-12 years of relevant work experience.
  • Technical knowledge of a specialized engineering discipline, cost, scheduling and/or contracts administration relating to the construction of heavy industrial or commercial complexes.
  • Demonstrated leadership in a team-based environment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the application and requirements of the Project Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) Handbook and the Bechtel Core Processes as they relate to area of responsibility.
  • Prior experience supervising and administering subcontractors.
  • Knowledge of Bechtel's "Zero Accidents" safety program.
  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications in accordance with current Bechtel Standard Application Program (BSAP) standards.
  • Knowledge of the use of subcontracts; knowledge of the contractor/subcontractor's responsibilities contained in subcontract documents.
  • Prior experience developing and implementing LOTO programs.
  • Prior experience as a LOTO coordinator/administrator.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares/updates demolition drawings/sketches, demolition plans, procedures, and methods.
  • Initiates requisitions for field purchases and prepares quantity takeoffs of field purchased material and equipment.
  • Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems or other computer database systems as required.
  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are implemented and adhered to, and tools and equipment are in safe condition and operated safely.
  • Proactively considers continuous learning or show interest to pursue appropriate learning activities.
  • Develops firm understanding of system and area scoping and drawings required for work package development.
  • Reviews and approves inspection test plans, coordinates reviews of subcontractor submittments.
  • Provide expert input to the Bechtel and subcontractor teams on mechanical, piping, and electrical isolations, test procedures, and work authorizations.
  • Identify isolation boundaries from work scope, develop and issue isolation permits, markup engineering drawings, de energize equipment, depressurize systems, and implement proper isolation devices (locks, tags, blinds, etc.)
