About The Position

Perform maintenance and repair on a variety of heavy equipment and vehicles within the Primoris Fleet, primarily based in Belton, TX, ensuring operational readiness and safety.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational or technical school program in heavy equipment repair, diesel mechanics, or a related field is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a heavy equipment mechanic, preferably in a field service role.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines (e.g., Caterpillar, Cummins, John Deere), hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and drivetrains.
  • Strong understanding of schematics and technical manuals.
  • Ability to operate diagnostic software and tools effectively.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred or ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects, bend, stoop, climb, and work in various weather conditions.
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends, or on-call as needed.
  • Strong commitment to safety.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems on heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, loaders, cranes, and paving equipment.
  • Conduct routine preventative maintenance (PM) inspections and services, including oil changes, lubrication, filter replacements, and fluid checks.
  • Perform engine, transmission, and differential repairs and replacements.
  • Service and repair braking systems, steering systems, and suspension components.
  • Utilize diagnostic software and tools to identify and resolve complex issues.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and labor hours.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
  • Communicate effectively with fleet management, operators, and parts suppliers.
  • Order necessary parts and supplies for repairs.
  • Travel to various job sites in and around Belton, TX, as required, to perform field repairs.
  • Assist with equipment transportation and setup when needed.
