About The Position

Under the direct supervision of the mechanic superintendent or foreman, the incumbent provides skilled mechanical maintenance and repair services. This role requires extended periods away from home, at least 75% of the time. The Field Mechanic will perform independently or as a team leader in various skilled activities involved with mechanical maintenance, act as a contact with customers to ensure work is accomplished safely and efficiently, and motivate other employees. The position involves looking for ways to improve the department and requires standard mechanical knowledge of various industrial prime movers, compressors, and other equipment. Proper use and maintenance of company-provided tools, power tools, and technical equipment, including precision measuring instruments, is essential. Basic computer skills are needed for providing and summarizing work performed. Other duties may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be able to comprehend & pass various safety training modules.
  • Standard mechanical knowledge and familiarity with various types of industrial prime movers, compressors, and other equipment.
  • Basic computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Occasionally will fill in for foremen or superintendents.
  • Assists with training of subordinates.
  • Clean driving record & being able to obtain DOT medical card for driving non-CDL company vehicles is preferred.
