About The Position

This position is responsible for managing a team of Field Interviewers on an assigned project, and responsible for tasks related to the planning and execution of data collection. Accountable for the quality of data collected within the assigned region. Field Managers provide direction and support to our Field Data Collectors and are often involved in the hiring, training process, project planning, and goal setting. They are additionally responsible for managing production and cost targets while assuring data quality. This position is Full Time Field Manager position that reports to a Regional Manager (RM). DEPARTMENT: Field Operations Field Operations is primarily responsible for collecting data in support of NORC studies, in a timely and efficient manner, while meeting the highest standards for quality and integrity. Field collaborates across research areas, support departments to coordinate project plans, and ensure appropriate resources are applied to achieve data collection success.

Requirements

  • NORC Field Manager experience.
  • Must have experience managing and mentoring staff.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both in person and on the telephone, and experience in team building and development.
  • Ability to work a flexible, full time schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must be comfortable contacting people in-person at their home, often without notice.
  • Lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs. up and downstairs as needed.
  • Valid driver’s license, automobile insurance, and access to reliable transportation.
  • Qualified applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • At least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise Field Interviewers and their data collection activities.
  • Manage all project field data collection tasks within a geographical area.
  • Provide guidance when problems arise; interpret and clarify data collection procedures.
  • Develop strategies during all project phases to include overall fielding plans, travel, cost and Production and project shutdown.
  • Assign and re-assign (or re-distribute) cases to interviewing staff.
  • Motivate field interviewers and make data driven decisions using a variety of reports.
  • Give work related performance and quality feedback to interviewing staff.
  • Conduct Field Interviewer training including telephone training, in-person training, refresher training during project, and other training deemed necessary by project.
  • Assist with interviewer recruiting tasks, writing, and reviewing project materials, mentoring the interviewing staff, and other relevant tasks as directed by the Regional Manager.
  • Occasionally serve as an interviewer, with responsibilities including but not limited to gaining cooperation from groups of respondents, listing segments, conducting interviews, and other additional tasks required by a project.
