About The Position

Matrix Basement Finishing is looking for an experienced Field Manager to support residential basement remodeling projects in the Orland Park, Joliet, and South Chicagoland area. This role is responsible for overseeing active jobsites, coordinating subcontractors, communicating with homeowners, managing project progress, and helping ensure each project is completed on schedule and to company quality standards. The ideal candidate has experience in residential construction, remodeling, basement finishing, field supervision, or construction project management.

Requirements

  • Experience in residential construction, remodeling, basement finishing, restoration, or field management preferred.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, installers, trades, or field crews.
  • Strong understanding of residential construction sequencing and jobsite coordination.
  • Ability to read and understand scopes of work, project layouts, and basic construction plans.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Comfortable using mobile apps, email, photos, and digital project documentation.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Must be able to travel throughout the assigned Illinois territory.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee multiple basement remodeling projects throughout the assigned Illinois territory.
  • Visit jobsites regularly to check progress, quality, cleanliness, safety, and schedule status.
  • Coordinate subcontractors and trade partners including framing, carpentry, drywall, electrical, plumbing, painting, flooring, trim, and finishing crews.
  • Communicate with homeowners regarding project updates, timelines, expectations, questions, and concerns.
  • Review project scopes, layouts, plans, selections, and change orders.
  • Identify and resolve field issues quickly and professionally.
  • Hold subcontractors and crews accountable to company standards, timelines, and quality expectations.
  • Document job progress, delays, punch list items, photos, and customer concerns.
  • Manage punch list completion and assist with final project closeout.
  • Work closely with scheduling, permitting, purchasing, sales, and production leadership.
