About The Position

The Field Manager will be primarily responsible for overseeing all aspects of school recruitment and survey administration for Our Youth, Our Future, a longstanding national epidemiological and etiological school-based survey funded by the National Institute on Drug Abuse. This project focuses on measuring and understanding substance use among youth living on or near American Indian reservations. This position will serve as the primary liaison with eligible and participating schools and school districts, and with other tribal education and/or public health entities where applicable. They will collaborate closely with the data manager to monitor survey administration, and to ensure important field information relevant to data collection and analysis is available and up to date. This is a temporary position, appointed for one year with the possibility to be renewed on an annual basis based on available funding.

Requirements

MS in Psychology, Public Health, education or other social/behavioral science.
Experience working on behavioral health or education-related projects.
Basic awareness of university IRB or other research ethics reviews board procedures.
Advanced Word, Outlook and Excel skills and demonstrated experience with managing and tailoring customer management tools.
Experience working with racial/ethnic minority populations and strong commitment to cultural sensitivity.
Excellent organizational skills with demonstrated experience navigating complex, concurrent responsibilities.
Excellent written communication skills with strong experience communicating online with diverse audiences.
Demonstrated experience with participant recruitment or related experience that demonstrates a strong capability to recruit effectively (e.g. client management, outreach, etc.).
Ability to work effectively with external audiences, such as school administrators and community members.
Demonstrated ability to complete tasks proactively and work efficiently both independently and in collaboration with others.

Nice To Haves

Experience working with Native American populations.
Experience working with or knowledge of K-12 school systems and settings.
Familiarity with CSU systems, such as Kuali, and/or CSU administrative procedures.
Basic familiarity with the administrative processes involved in federally funded research.

Responsibilities

Manages end-to-end survey protocol processes, including recruitment, administration, and post-survey activities for school-based research.
Maintains and streamlines recruitment databases and tracking systems to support efficient project operations.
Updates sampling frame data with current school enrollment, contact, and required research information.
Conducts outreach to schools, provides program information, and secures participation commitments.
Researches and coordinates approval requirements, including school boards and tribal IRBs; prepares and submits required materials.
Communicates with school personnel to obtain documentation and confirm compliance with university and IRB standards.
Oversees survey administration to ensure target participation levels and proper implementation protocols are met.
Coordinates with data management staff to assure correct data transfer and supports data validity processes.
Processes financial documentation, including collecting W-9s and preparing school payment invoices.
Supports grant operations by managing project schedules, preparing reports, presenting updates, assisting with dissemination, and performing administrative coordination tasks.
