About The Position

This project is focused on Urban and Community Forestry initiatives in Stamford, CT. Crew members and leaders will perform various tasks related to tree care and maintenance throughout park sites and natural areas within Stamford, CT. Projects may include invasive species management, tree planting, tree pruning and watering. Ultimately, our goal is to continue to improve Stamford's urban forest and canopy.

Requirements

  • 21+ Valid Drivers License
  • Tree ID Skills
  • Tree Planting Experience
  • Experience with Urban and Community Forestry Best Practices
  • Experience leading in field based work.
  • Possess a current and valid driver’s license for the type of vehicle which they are operating.
  • Have a minimum of three years of state permitted and licensed driving experience.
  • Be a minimum of 21 years old.
  • Complete and pass a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check upon hire (or re-hire) and annually, thereafter.
  • Complete and pass SCA’s driver training, including both online and behind-the-wheel assessment (commentary) components.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a crew of young adult conservation corps members.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Conduct daily briefings, assign work tasks, monitor productivity, and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Support participant growth through mentorship, leadership development, and professional skill building.
  • Coordinate and oversee implementation of urban forestry projects.
  • Communicate regularly with project partners, municipal agencies, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all work is conducted in accordance with SCA and partner safety protocols.
  • Transport Crew Member Participants in an SCA Provided vehicle from central meeting location to various work sites.
  • Coordinate logistics with members and Partners.
  • Document project outcomes through photos and written records.
  • Maintain a small program budget and transaction receipts for expense tracking.
