About The Position

The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is the largest provider of hands-on environmental conservation programs for youth and adults. Program participants protect and restore national parks, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks, and community green spaces across the country.

Requirements

  • Willingness to perform manual, physical labor for up to 8 hours per day, exposed to the elements, and must occasionally lift and/or move 40 pounds or more.
  • First aid and CPR certification.
  • Attend Crew Leader training: [05/18/26 to 05/29/26].
  • 21+ years of age.
  • US Work Authorization.
  • Valid driver’s license for 3+ years and MVR that meets SCA standards.
  • Must be available for all days of work 06/01/26-07/31/26.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with youth or young adults, teaching, or environmental education.
  • Equipped to work independently and as a team.
  • Experience working with youth of all ages.
  • Local to the Atlanta, GA area.
  • Experience with conservation work skills or related skills – i.e., trail maintenance, trail construction, habitat restoration, chainsaw, carpentry, landscaping, and gardening.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and inspire a team of ten high school-aged youth (14 –19) from the metro Atlanta, GA area.
  • Work on projects such as invasive species removal, habitat restoration, litter abatement, and trail work in various sites throughout local National Park Service sites.
  • Incorporate and plan environmental education curriculum.
  • Perform project monitoring and data collection throughout the season.
  • Facilitate teamwork, manage field-based tasks, and guide crew dynamics.
  • Train members in technical conservation work skills, mentor personal and professional development, and teach environmental stewardship.
  • Communicate with agency park partners, ensure successful and timely completion of work projects, and uphold a positive representation of SCA.
  • Organize logistics, complete documentation, manage a budget, complete end of the season report, and communicate with SCA staff.
