Field Interviewers on the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) are responsible for traveling frequently to selected locations to recruit study participants. They make in-person contact with selected respondents to discuss the study, answer questions, and obtain participation. The role involves performing the proper administration of a computer-assisted interview, collecting confidential information, and administering standardized questionnaires to selected individuals. Interviewers will independently manage administrative duties, including participating in conference calls and completing online trainings, and transmitting data as scheduled. They will assume full and legal responsibility for the use and care of project-issued equipment, safeguarding participant incentives, issued equipment, or project materials against damage, loss, or theft. The position also requires assuming responsibility for and carefully tracking all participant incentives, submitting timely and accurate Time & Expense reports, and virtually attending scheduled meetings with other members of the project team. Interviewers will approach selected households without prior appointment, work and drive after dark, attend weekly scheduled calls with their Field Supervisor, and adhere to a schedule set by the Field Supervisor for respondent contact times. They will also provide availability for field observations conducted by a member of client or RTI staff and maintain required system updates to project equipment and completion of administrative tasks.
