About The Position

Kodiak Robotics, Inc. is seeking a Field Integration Engineer to lead failure analysis, hardware validation, and continuous improvement efforts across their integrated systems. This role involves close collaboration with Electrical, Mechanical, Software, Firmware, and Technician teams to conduct root-cause investigations, validate corrective actions, and ensure hardware meets high quality and functional standards. The engineer will also contribute to enhancing diagnostic capabilities, refining documentation, and relaying customer feedback to product teams for system performance and reliability improvements.

Requirements

  • Proven hands-on experience debugging and assembling hardware/software systems, specifically in the autonomous vehicle, robotics, or similar advanced systems space.
  • Experience working directly with customers to deliver technical solutions.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Confidence with automotive electronics.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols and tools such as Ethernet, CAN, LIN, 100BASE-T1.
  • Proven ability to independently solve complex, novel problems with minimal guidance through critical thinking and resourcefulness.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated expertise with autonomy-specific sensors, including cameras, LiDAR, radar, and INS systems.
  • Skills in prototyping electronics, wire harnesses, and custom hardware components.
  • Experience with hardware design tools such as CAD, SolidWorks, Soldering, etc.
  • Experience in programming/scripting languages (C++, python, C, ROS, bash), operating systems such as Ubuntu/Linux/Windows.
  • Failure analysis experience.

Responsibilities

  • Drive root-cause analysis of failures, working across electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, and technician teams.
  • Validate corrective actions to prevent future failures.
  • Conduct thorough inspections and checkouts of new hardware and RMAs to ensure quality and functional standards before shipment.
  • Assist in collecting customer feedback and issues to share with product teams for continuous improvement.
  • Create and review documentation such as drawings, schematics, build instructions, and incoming hardware quality tests/checks.
  • Assist with improved diagnostics to more rapidly detect failure modes.
