About The Position

This program supports the modernization of FAA facilities and air traffic control systems nationwide. Due to the scope and continued expansion of the effort, there is a strong demand for professional field-based engineers to provide engineering leadership for on-site assessments, system integration planning, and implementation of complex air traffic control systems at operational facilities, including TRACONs, terminals, and laboratory environments. This is an end-to-end role where you will lead the installation process, from site surveys to system commissioning. As the single point of contact for all site activities, you will manage the site-specific implementation, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure a successful deployment.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting FAA, NAS, air traffic control, radar, or aviation-related systems
  • Experience working around live operational systems, including radar or safety-critical infrastructure
  • Knowledge of systems engineering methodologies and system integration best practices
  • Experience leading or providing engineering oversight for site assessments, installations, or system cutovers
  • Familiarity with networking, power, grounding, and infrastructure standards in mission-critical environments
  • Experience supporting system integration testing, site acceptance testing, or operational readiness activities
  • Ability to provide technical leadership and guidance to field teams and integration personnel
  • Active or eligible security clearance, if required by program or contract
  • Experience working with hardware, cabling, and networking equipment in field environments
  • Experience inspecting, inventorying, and documenting technical equipment
  • Ability to verify power, grounding, and physical connectivity requirements
  • Familiarity with data center–style or operational facility environments
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical documentation
  • Experience with hardware and software system configuration
  • Ability to perform system checkout, troubleshooting, and validation activities
  • Understanding of system integration concepts, interfaces, and dependencies
  • Ability to follow and implement engineering specifications and procedures
  • Willingness and ability to travel to operational sites (50-75% Travel)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with air traffic control or other mission-critical operational systems
  • Background in computer systems, electronics, or telecommunications
  • Experience with rack-based systems, labs, or data-center environments
  • Ability to support engineering teams through site surveys, pre-installation, and cutover activities
  • Experience with system integration testing, site acceptance testing, and troubleshooting complex hardware, software, and network interfaces
  • Familiarity with configuration management, change control, and working in safety-critical or regulated environments
