About The Position

Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is seeking a Field Geotechnical Professional to join our growing team in Grand Prairie, Texas. This position is ideal for a recent college graduate interested in building a career in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, subsurface investigations, construction materials testing (CMT), and construction observation services. The successful candidate will work closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Geologists, and Construction Services personnel on a variety of infrastructure, commercial, and residential projects.

Requirements

  • Valid Driver's License
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geology, or a related field
  • Knowledge of geotechnical engineering principles, geology, soil mechanics, foundation systems, and construction practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including technical report writing.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in field and office environments.
  • Valid Driver's License with a good driving record and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and traverse active construction sites safely.

Nice To Haves

  • EIT (Engineer-in-Training) or GIT (Geologist-in-Training) certification preferred.
  • Experience with or coursework related to subsurface investigations, engineering geology, geotechnical analysis, or construction materials testing is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field observations and document construction activities to verify compliance with project specifications, engineering plans, and quality control requirements.
  • Monitor and document earthwork operations, including site grading, excavation, fill placement, and compaction activities.
  • Observe and document geotechnical drilling, soil and rock sampling, test borings, and subsurface exploration activities.
  • Assist with field and laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and other construction materials.
  • Prepare detailed daily field reports, test summaries, and construction observation documentation.
  • Collect, organize, and evaluate geotechnical and geological field data.
  • Perform routine engineering calculations related to soil mechanics, foundation support, earthwork, and site development projects.
  • Assist in the preparation of geotechnical engineering reports, subsurface investigation reports, and foundation recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders.
