About The Position

Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) is seeking a Staff Geotechnical Professional to join our growing team in Grand Prairie, Texas. This position is ideal for a geotechnical engineering or geology professional with 2-4 years of experience in geotechnical consulting. You will work directly with Senior Geotechnical Staff and the Branch Manager on a variety of commercial, industrial, residential, transportation, and infrastructure projects. This role offers the opportunity to participate in all phases of geotechnical projects, including proposal development, subsurface exploration, geotechnical analysis, engineering recommendations, report preparation, client management, and construction support services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Geological Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geology, or a related discipline.
  • EIT (Engineer-in-Training) or GIT (Geologist-in-Training) certification required
  • 2-4 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, engineering geology, subsurface investigations, construction materials testing, or related consulting services.
  • Experience preparing geotechnical reports, engineering recommendations, and technical proposals.
  • Strong technical writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication. You will be communicating with clients, contractors, and project teams.
  • Valid Driver's License with a good driving record and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AutoCAD, Slide2, VESPA, and other geotechnical modeling and analysis software preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare geotechnical proposals, scopes of work, cost estimates, and project budgets for subsurface exploration and construction-related projects.
  • Analyze subsurface investigation data, including soil borings, rock coring, laboratory testing, and field observations.
  • Prepare comprehensive geotechnical engineering reports, including foundation recommendations, pavement evaluations, earthwork recommendations, retaining wall design parameters, slope stability evaluations, and site development recommendations.
  • Perform routine geotechnical engineering calculations related to soil mechanics, shallow and deep foundations, settlement analysis, bearing capacity, earth pressures, and slope stability.
  • Coordinate project activities with drilling subcontractors, geotechnical laboratories, field technicians, and construction services personnel.
  • Review laboratory testing results and evaluate soil, rock, aggregate, concrete, and other construction material properties.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior geotechnical staff, field technicians, and entry-level engineers/geologists.
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationships through effective communication, responsiveness, and technical expertise.
  • Support construction observation and field investigation activities as needed, including site visits, drilling oversight, and construction monitoring.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, geologists, contractors, and regulatory agencies to ensure successful project delivery.
