About The Position

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) is seeking a detail-oriented part-time Field Enumerator. This role supports the organization by collecting agricultural data for the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS). The Field Enumerator will interview farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural businesses in person or by phone, and at times travel to designated fields to perform crop counts. The position requires maintaining a reliable personal vehicle and conducting work from a residence with an operable telephone free from distractions. NASDA aims to create a positive work environment for employees passionate about agriculture.

Requirements

• Experience multitasking in an energetic, deadline-oriented work environment.
• Ability to positively represent NASDA and the benefits of enumerators in all survey actions.
• Ability to make crop counts in designated fields.
• Ability to maintain a reliable personal vehicle.
• Ability to conduct interviews in person or by telephone with farm operators and other individuals.
• Knowledge about computers or iPads.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to demonstrate good time management in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-motivated.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Organized.
• Ability to maintain a positive and friendly attitude.
• Must pass a background check.

Responsibilities

• Provide reliable, accurate, and objective statistics and information to agricultural producers, farmers, ranchers, and rural communities.
• Actively interview farmers, ranchers, and other agricultural businesses in person or on the phone.
• Travel to designated fields to perform crop counts.
• Maintain and deliver detailed and legible records of interviews, crop counts, mileage, expenditures, and hours worked.
• Conduct enumerator work from a residence with an operable telephone free from distractions.
• Maintain a personal vehicle to travel for field enumerator duties.
