About The Position

The National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) is seeking a detail-oriented, reliable, and motivated Field Enumerator to support data collection across local communities. This field enumerator position earns a competitive wage of $17.75/hour, plus mileage with opportunities for raises and promotions. NASDA is a nonpartisan, nonprofit association that represents the elected and appointed commissioners, secretaries, and directors of the departments of agriculture in all fifty states and four U.S. territories. Founded in 1916, our mission is to grow and enhance American agriculture through policies, partnerships, and public engagement. Since 1972, NASDA has employed enumerators to collect agricultural data on behalf of the United States Department of Agriculture's (USDA) National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS).

Requirements

Self-motivation and a strong sense of responsibility
Strong communication skills and a professional, friendly demeanor
Comfort speaking with people by phone and in person
Basic familiarity with technology (iPads, data entry, email)
Good time management and attention to detail
The ability to work independently and meet deadlines
An interest in agriculture, food systems, sustainability, or rural communities
Access to a reliable personal vehicle (only required for in-person field work)
Must pass a background check

Responsibilities

Interviewing farmers, ranchers, and agricultural businesses by phone or in person
Conducting crop counts in designated fields when applicable
Recording survey responses, mileage, expenses, and hours worked using an iPad
Maintaining clear, complete, and timely records
Representing NASDA professionally and positively in all interactions
