Field Engineer
About The Position
Tutor Perini Civil - East is seeking a Field Engineer - Structures/Steel for our project site in Old Saybrook, CT. As a Field Engineer - Structures/Steel at Tutor Perini Civil, reporting to Director, Structural Steel you will have the opportunity to meet daily with project crews to confirm all materials, equipment, and resources are readily available for the planned construction activities on the schedule. You will collect, coordinate, and analyze shop drawings, design specifications, material requirements and project data through the duration of the project. You will provide technical input for project work plans and scheduling, identify risk elements of production, materials, equipment or process that could negatively impact the budget or schedule, and evaluate daily production, schedule and budget projections to accurately track project performance. You will notify team members and manager of any significant schedule changes and recommend solutions for management consideration. You will provide project quantity input to ensure project financials are accurately reported and manage cost coding regarding employee time, materials, equipment, and subcontractor activities. You will review and approve daily timecards, and assist on-site Office Manager to resolve any pay discrepancies with crews. You will review project specifications for quality assurance at the beginning of work, during the project work and after work completes. You will initiate and manage appropriate permits, certificates, inspections, and other documentation regarding construction activities. You will conduct required Job Hazard Analysis (JHAs) to ensure a safe and compliance work environment for all construction personnel. You will attend weekly safety meetings with field team and project leadership, and present field analysis as needed. You will assist the development of design drawings and provide technical input, as needed. You will coordinate subcontractor work methods, schedule and crews as needed.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or Equivalent
- Five (5) years of experience as an Engineer
- Heavy field interface experience
- Ability to conduct meetings and present topics to a group
- Ability to read and understand drawings
- Basic knowledge and understanding of Procure (or equivalent), Blue Beam and HCSS
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word/Excel)
- Demonstrated aptitude to understand engineering principles
- Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship now or in the future
