About The Position

PBSGC is seeking an experienced Field Engineer that is willing to work in the Louisiana area and surrounding states as assigned. This role involves the management of construction projects, including engineering and layout, leadership of personnel, and management of assets such as vessels, barges, and equipment. The Field Engineer will coordinate the mobilization of crew, equipment, and materials, and will be responsible for assigned assets. A thorough understanding of project plans and specifications is crucial. The position also emphasizes promoting job site safety, encouraging safe work practices, and rectifying hazards. The Field Engineer will be responsible for ensuring adherence to PBSGC's safety culture, conducting daily reports, and performing performance evaluations of crew personnel. Proactive and intentional leadership in developing the safety culture, coaching, mentoring, training, and supporting team member development are key aspects of this role.

Requirements

• Civil construction management experience in addition to the above education and/or experience of at least five years is required.
• Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
• Proficient in setting, transferring and understanding grades.
• Commitment to safe leadership of personnel and safe work practice is a must
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret technical documents including contracts and specifications
• Experience in scheduling, supervision, quality control, and management of civil construction projects
• Thorough knowledge of construction practices and methods as well as construction management experience
• Strong leadership, communication, problem solving and teamwork skills
• High school diploma and valid driver's license

Nice To Haves

• Experience with working in a marine environment on the inland waterway and especially the Mississippi River is not required but beneficial
• Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, or Construction Management is preferred but experience in lieu of a degree will be considered.
• Undergraduates of all experience levels and with a varied background of construction training will be considered

• Ensures all PBSGC employees and contractors are adhering to PBSGC's safety culture
• Daily reports and additional required written communication
• Conduct performance evaluations of crew personnel
• Provide proactive and intentional leadership in developing the safety culture on the project site
• Coach, mentor and train team members
• Support and encourage team member's learning and development
