About The Position

Ascend Technologies is hiring a Field Engineer for its Professional Services Department. This role involves managing users and resolving issues onsite at a client’s location. The engineer will provide advanced desktop and end-user support while also assisting with server and network environments, including Cloud, Active Directory, local network devices, MacOS and VoIP systems. The ideal candidate is a self-motivated IT Specialist who enjoys working with both people and technology and can travel to client sites to offer technical expertise.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels, from executives to staff, including CSMs and Account Executives, while participating in and leading client meetings to provide environmental status updates.
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through to complete tasks and meet deliverables.
  • Proficient in documenting processes and technical information.
  • Strong time management abilities to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Proficient with all supported Microsoft Desktop Operating Systems, from Windows 7 to Windows 11.
  • Skilled knowledge of Microsoft Server Operating Systems from 2008 to 2021.
  • Strong oral and written communication capabilities.
  • Adaptability to frequently switch between tasks as needed.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft technologies, including Microsoft Azure, Active Directory, Group Policies, Office 365, Exchange, and Microsoft Hyper-V, VMWare.
  • Solid network troubleshooting expertise, including TCP/IP concepts and LAN/WAN issues.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving DHCP and DNS-related issues.
  • Well-versed with firewalls, routers, managed switches, wireless controllers, and WAPs.
  • Proven ability to work independently and make autonomous, on-the-spot decisions with minimal guidance or remote support.
  • Strong understanding of physical layer cabling, including patch cables and cable tracing, with the ability to troubleshoot or fabricate cables when necessary.
  • Hands-on knowledge of IPv4 routing and switching, including experience with Aruba switches and access points (Aruba CLI, Web, Instant On, and Aruba Central).
  • Proficiency with FortiGate Firewalls and Forti Analyzer.
  • Experience in configuring and managing IPSec VPN tunnels.
  • Working knowledge with SD-WAN setup and optimization.
  • Well-versed in configuring DNS and DHCP services across diverse environments, including Windows Servers and FortiGate appliances.

  • Configuring and managing IPSec VPN tunnels.
  • Setting up and optimizing SD-WAN.
  • Configuring DNS and DHCP services across diverse environments, including Windows Servers and FortiGate appliances.
