About The Position

Mortenson is seeking an Experienced Field Engineer to join the Structured Cabling Group. This role will support and complete the full cycle of field coordination issues with team members, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers. The position requires 100% travel on a rotational basis, with an estimated schedule of 3-4 weeks on a project site followed by approximately 1 week at home. This schedule is an estimate and is also based on project needs. Traveling opportunities are available across the U.S., including but not limited to LA, TX, CA, NM, WY, WI, IN, UT, and IL.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Engineering, Engineering, or another science or mathematics-related degree, or an equivalent combination of education and substantial technical/field experience over multiple years.
  • Detail orientation sufficient to organize and effectively manage multiple tasks.
  • Possess a basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices.
  • Strong teamwork orientation, initiative, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven positive and professional attitude and customer service skills.
  • Current driver’s license.
  • Ability to travel 100% on a rotational basis.

  • Previous related internship experience a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide Pre-Construction support, including managing submittal and RFI processes, evaluating project design and engineering documents, and conducting research on living arrangements for project team members.
  • Perform project-specific tasks in preparation for team mobilization, such as preparing turnover binder templates.
  • Assist with the preparation of Pre-Mobilization Kickoff meetings, including compiling, contacting, and arranging for short-form subcontracts with local entities, assisting in drafting subcontracts and purchase agreements, and reviewing the Best Practice Database.
  • Manage all aspects necessary for Construction support, including quality assurance & quality control, inventory management, coordinating prep meetings and inspections, assisting with material and equipment management, managing coordination drawings, coordinating lift and formwork drawings, managing production logs, and tracking Event Management incidents.
  • Administer Closeout processes, including compiling turnover documentation, assisting with contract document closeout, supporting final inspections and punch list processes, and providing updates of the submittal register.
  • Participate in project safety audits and Mortenson’s Zero Injury Safety Program.
  • Determine alternative work methods as needed.
  • Maintain schedule of timelines and follow through until completion.
