About The Position

An Overaa Field Engineer (FE) is a contributing member of the project team and is instrumental in project success through engagement with craft field operations and supporting the superintendent. As a member of an individual Project Team, the FE is responsible for working with/on the crew, to execute Overaa’s self-performed work. The FE will work in collaboration with the Superintendent and the Foreman to support the needs of the project. The FE participates in scheduling, estimating, cost control, document control, and jobsite production with the overall goal of achieving the maximum profit. Field Engineers attend the union apprenticeship program to learn the trade they will be supervising as a Field leader.

Requirements

  • Degree in Construction Management, civil engineering or related field.
  • Organized with a systematic approach to achieve high level results.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to manage diverse personalities.
  • Desire to work in the field with the craftsmen, as well as supporting Superintendent with assigned duties.
  • Demonstrate a desire to learn a wide range of construction disciplines including attending apprenticeship program in assigned craft.
  • Passion for construction.

Nice To Haves

  • Expertise in QSP, SWPPP, LEED and sustainability is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Procore, PlanGrid, Bluebeam, Revit, SketchUp, AutoCAD, Primavera, Navisworks, Microsoft Project, and Viewpoint project manager software is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Craft assignment, work with journeyman and foreman to execute self-performed work.
  • Project Document Control
  • Support Project Startup
  • Assist Superintendent in preparation of the weekly “Short Term Look Ahead Schedule” to monitor progress and assure all work is scheduled for maximum efficiency.
  • Assist in Sub-contractor management as assigned by superintendent.
  • Attend and participate in all project meetings as assigned by superintendent
  • Manage project closeout including punchlist, O&Ms, spare parts, and Warranties.
  • Support project team in development of project specific workplans.
  • Performs project duties with an appropriate sense of urgency.
  • Works as a team with assigned superintendent(s), Project Managers to build projects in a controlled manner.
  • The role of the FE on a project is to support the technical and administrative needs of the Superintendent. This may include document control, startup activities including buyout, submittal management, RFI processing, Subcontractor coordination.
  • The FE will typically be assigned as a crew member and is expected work as a team member
  • Acts as a company representative to the Owner on assigned projects.
  • Maintains strict adherence to Company processes and
  • The FE is empowered to escalate issues to more senior managers to seek greater company support at the earliest sign of jeopardy of the project's success.
