About The Position

The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is seeking a Professional Engineer to join our dynamic Region Two construction team. As a Field Engineer (Engineer III), you will assist the Region Construction Manager with monitoring consultant Construction Engineering Management (CEM) teams and supporting the District Engineer with running the Region Construction program.

Requirements

Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Utah (or have the ability to obtain one per Utah Code 58-22).
Some experience in heavy civil construction.
Comfortable navigating the tools of the trade, including CADD and other design software.
Ability to navigate the UDOT partnering process, build trust with contractors, and communicate clearly with the public.
Enjoy identifying and solving project issues in a fast-paced environment.
Enjoy sharing knowledge and helping the next generation of engineers grow.

Nice To Haves

At least one year of experience in the construction or materials field.
Current UDOT employees.

Responsibilities

Monitoring consultant CEM teams and their construction projects.
Working in a team to meet quality, scope, schedule, budget, and safety requirements on assigned projects.
Performing field inspections.
Reviewing submittments, change orders, plans and specifications.
Writing or drafting technical reports, articles or related material based on research, investigation or analysis.
Working with the public who may be impacted by the projects.
Working with CEM teams, UDOT Project Managers, and contractors.
Other duties as assigned.
