About The Position

JRAD is seeking candidates for an immediate fill position supporting Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Chemical, Biological, Radiological Detection (CBRD) Support Services. This is an onsite position at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA. The Field Engineer position applies broad technical knowledge of HVAC, piping, valve systems, and CBRN sensor equipment to support engineering design, analysis, installation, testing, and documentation activities. This position is fully onsite at the Pentagon in Arlington, VA, supporting mission-critical systems in a high-visibility environment. The role provides direct technical support to the Project Manager across research, design, development, material identification, procurement, inventory management, installation, and test operations. The Field Engineer exercises independent judgment in performing engineering tasks and recommends improvements to enhance system performance and process efficiency.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • One of the following combinations: Bachelor’s degree in ENG or ENG Management + 1 year related experience, or Associate’s degree + 4 years related experience, or 8 years related experience in removal, installation, and/or repair of HVAC/piping systems in accordance with Military Standard procedures.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to lift/move up to 50 pounds.
  • Routine climbing of multiple flights of stairs.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Work may involve stooping, climbing, walking, and other physical activities.
  • DoW Secret Security Clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with computer systems administration (Windows and/or Linux) is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of cost estimates for CBRN Sensors and HVAC system work.
  • Supervise and perform installation and maintenance of CBRN Sensors and HVAC systems as a working lead.
  • Assist in the development of Installation Design Packages (IDPs).
  • Identify technical issues and provide information to support Condition Discrepancy Reports, Change Order Requests, and Liaison Action Requests.
  • Identify, analyze, report, and correct causes of equipment and system failures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on CBRN Sensors.
  • Assist in developing test and evaluation procedures for systems and equipment.
  • Support research, selection, and evaluation of equipment, materials, and sensors.
  • Provide technical expertise during installation, production, and integration activities.
  • Conduct pre- and post-installation testing.
  • Provide training on systems and equipment.
  • Conduct configuration audits.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned to support organizational mission objectives.
  • Overtime may be required.
  • Travel outside the local area may be required.
