Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree or Vocational Certificate in the Skilled Trades Industry is required.
  • Must be physically able to fulfill job functions, including lifting up to 50 lbs, carrying equipment, climbing ladders, work in confined spaces (attics/crawl spaces), and using small tools and testing equipment.
  • Must enjoy working in the great outdoors.
  • Must be personable, enthusiastic, well-groomed, articulate, and able to convey technical information in plain language.
  • Must be adaptable as audits/inspections will fluctuate with client construction schedules.
  • Must be organized, dependable, self-directed, and able to complete projects with limited supervision.
  • Must be willing to obtain additional certifications/licenses as required.
  • Valid driver’s license in good standing with insurable driving record.
  • Must have reliable transportation and the ability to travel daily to job sites.

Nice To Haves

  • HERS Rater, Energy Star, Green Building, ACCA 310 HVAC Grading, IECC, HVAC EPA, BPI, and LEED Certifications are a plus!
  • 2 years of work experience in HVAC, home remodeling, or construction is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Home Energy Audits in accordance with New Construction RESNET/Energy Star Guidelines.
  • Conduct visual inspections of applied materials and control assemblies.
  • Collect data and visually observe energy-efficient features, including model and serial numbers of relevant equipment, and the quality and installation of duct work, insulation, framing, and air sealing.
  • Utilize equipment to test system performance, such as infiltration & Blower Door Testing, Ventilation Testing, Duct Leakage Testing, and Building Air Flow & Pressure Testing.
  • Adjust system settings to meet design or manufacturer specifications.
  • Develop relationships with builders and code officials through effective and professional communication.
  • Prepare an electronic written report of audit findings.
  • Complete any necessary paperwork required for internal reporting.
  • Maintain equipment in accordance with company policy and manufacturer’s specifications.
  • Complete all other assigned third-party inspections as needed within the designated geographical area.
