About The Position

The Field Engineer II will assist the project team in developing and maintaining the overall project CPM schedule in P6, creating 4-week look-ahead schedules, and attending schedule update meetings. This role involves navigating procurement processes, providing daily field oversight for safety and efficiency, and maintaining accurate site documentation in Procore. The Field Engineer II will ensure work aligns with the Quality Management Plan, promote safety initiatives, and assist in developing RFIs. Proficiency in Bluebeam for project documentation and workflows is essential, along with reviewing submittals and interpreting plans and specifications. The role includes conducting safety inspections, managing punch lists, meeting with AHJs, and determining manpower, material, and equipment needs to support the project schedule. Collaboration with the Superintendent and project team on preconstruction support, PMP development, and contract interpretation is also key. Maintaining good communication with contractors and suppliers, assisting in the implementation of the site safety program, and supporting safety/ERM initiatives are crucial. The Field Engineer II is expected to build client and internal customer confidence through exceptional service, ethical conduct, and risk minimization. Further construction knowledge will be gained through Samet University and Builders Building Builders programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Proficiency in Bluebeam and familiarity with other construction software tools.
  • Experience in collaborating on quality assurance and safety initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of plans, specifications, and construction documentation processes.
  • Understanding of project schedules and the ability to assist in maintaining progress.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, walk on rough or uneven surfaces, use hands and fingers to feel or handle equipment and files, reach with hands and arms, drive, bend, climb stairs or ladders, balance, kneel, crouch, turn or twist, talk, see, and hear.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, handle hand and/or power tools, and may infrequently be required to crawl.
  • The work environment is a construction site in various stages of completion.
  • The workspace can fluctuate from low to high noise levels and low to high light levels.
  • Unpleasant or potentially harmful fumes may occasionally be present (proper PPE will be provided).
  • The temperature of the work environment is variable based on location and season.
  • Frequent travel is required.
  • Have basic skill level in Microsoft Office suite, industry prevalent construction software, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to interact with associates over the internet via Zoom or Teams.
  • Ability to type professional correspondence.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in managing RFIs, submittals, and punch lists is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the project team in developing and maintaining the overall project CPM schedule in P6 in alignment with the appropriate TSW.
  • Create 4-week look-ahead schedules to ensure proactive involvement in planning and scheduling in alignment with the appropriate TSW.
  • Attend and contribute to all schedule updates, ensuring alignment with project timelines and deliverables.
  • Navigate procurement processes efficiently, avoiding delays or issues.
  • Provide daily field oversight to maintain safe and efficient job site conditions.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate site documentation, including progress reports and observation ensuring that all required project documentation is entered into Procore daily.
  • Understand quality expectations and STOP any work that does not support the Quality Management Plan for the project.
  • Promote, evaluate, and advance an injury-free job site through Samet’s established safety initiative and our award-winning safety program.
  • Develop and submit RFIs under supervision.
  • Fully utilize Bluebeam for project-related documentation and workflows.
  • Assist in submittal reviews to confirm compliance with project specifications.
  • Interpret and understand plans and specifications to ensure project alignment.
  • Complete weekly safety reports and conduct site safety inspections to promote a safe workplace.
  • Oversee and manage punch lists to ensure all tasks are resolved before project closeout.
  • Meet with AHJs and third-party inspectors to facilitate inspections and approvals.
  • Assist in determining manpower levels, materials quantities, equipment, and other requirements to maintain project schedule.
  • Assist with development and execution of project schedule, look-ahead schedules, sequencing and coordination of work, and schedule communication with subcontractors and suppliers; assist with planning, scheduling and coordination of work groups on the job site in alignment with respective TSW’s.
  • Assist the Superintendent(s) and project team with preconstruction support, pricing and coordination as requested.
  • Participate in PMP development as required; assist in updating the PMP document as requested.
  • Research, understand, and effectively apply scope, terms, and conditions of owner contract, subcontracts, and project plans and specifications; review contract drawings, specifications, and shop drawings to ensure proper coordination and installation.
  • Maintain good communication and relationships with other contractors and suppliers as required to support the construction schedule.
  • Assist in the implementation of the site safety program to assure safety compliance of trades, equipment and work in progress in accordance with Samet safety standards and applicable regulations.
  • Assist the project team with maintaining accurate and timely safety documentation using the Samet project management system.
  • Support safety/ERM (Enterprise Risk Management) initiatives of the Company.
  • Create and build client and internal customer confidence through a commitment to satisfy clients and internal customers by exceeding expectations, solving problems in an expedient manner, ensuring commitments are met and soliciting ideas and opinions to ensure the client and internal customer are completely satisfied with end results.
  • Consistently conduct business in a professional ethical manner working to minimize risk to Samet, project owners and trade partners.
  • Work with the project Superintendent to ensure that all required project documentation is entered into Procore daily.
  • Utilize all resources made available through Samet University and Builders Building Builders to further your construction knowledge-based curricula designated for specific job titles and goals.
