About The Position

Ampcus Inc. is seeking a Field Engineer 3 to provide onsite desktop, hardware, software, network, and technical support at a government customer location in the Groton/New London, CT area. This is a journeyman-level field support position involving installation, diagnosis, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and deployment of computer-related products and technologies. The ideal candidate will have 1–3 years of hands-on computer support experience and strong foundational hardware and software troubleshooting skills.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of computer/desktop support experience.
  • Basic hardware and software troubleshooting skills.
  • Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting computers and peripherals.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair desktop/laptop hardware.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts and network devices.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Good work ethic and ability to work independently.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work the required split-shift schedule.
  • Must be a registered U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PC/laptop imaging and software installation is preferred.
  • Experience with ticket management/service management platforms.
  • Experience configuring or deploying iOS, Android, or other mobile devices.
  • Experience with software deployment and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with hardware deployment and troubleshooting.
  • Experience performing hardware repairs.
  • Relevant technical certifications such as CompTIA A+, Security+, Apple, Dell, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, maintain, diagnose, and service desktop and laptop computers, printers, network devices, standard software, and low-end servers.
  • Perform basic hardware and software troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Provide desktop, laptop, server, networking, and peripheral support.
  • Install, maintain, and troubleshoot PCs, associated software, networks, servers, and peripherals.
  • Perform hardware replacements, including disk replacement on enterprise storage products.
  • Support legacy products and core/server products from operational and maintenance perspectives.
  • Perform network product installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Execute installs, moves, adds, and changes as required.
  • Reload and re-image PCs and laptops.
  • Install, configure, and optimize hardware/software networking products.
  • Test and certify PCs, networks, servers, and customer-approved applications.
  • Troubleshoot issues that cannot be resolved by the Help Desk or Service Desk.
  • Follow standard procedures, methods, scripts, and technical tools to diagnose and resolve incidents.
  • Escalate unresolved or complex issues appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate incident and service-request records in the ticketing system.
  • Ensure tickets are updated in accordance with customer-specific Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Maintain a high degree of professionalism in communication, conduct, and appearance.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction throughout the service delivery process.
