About The Position

This role is responsible for the preventative maintenance and repairs of STEP equipment, ensuring the repair and calibration of sensors, pneumatic devices, electrical and electronic systems. The position involves following and writing calibration programs, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), procedures, and working with electronic systems. The Field Electronics/Instrumentation & Controls Technician will also assist in training, coaching, and mentoring other technicians. Key duties include inspecting, analyzing, and diagnosing digital communications and electronic signals, testing and repairing solid-state circuitry in digital and analog equipment, and working with various electronic sensors such as Magnetic, Coriolis, and Turbine flow meters, Ultra Sonic Temperature transmitters, and other process and mechanical measuring sensors. The role also includes installing enhancements and major upgrades to field and shop equipment, assembling, installing, testing, and maintaining electrical and electronic wiring, equipment, and fixtures, loading software, settings, and calibrations on PLC equipment, and troubleshooting PLC-related issues. Maintaining equipment to company standards and training crew members on maintenance duties are also essential responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering or Journeyman/technical diploma in Electronics/Electrical/Instrumentation
  • 2 Years of industry trade experience
  • Indentured into or have an electronic or instrumentation certification is required.
  • Enform H2S Alive, First Aid/CPR, TDG, WHMIS, Forklift operation, loader training, Aerial Lift, Overhead Crane, ½ and full mask fit test, audio logical testing and other training as required by HSE or Human Resource departments
  • Class 5 driver’s license: Clean driver’s abstract is required.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for preventative maintenance and repairs of STEP equipment
  • Ensure the repair and calibration of sensors, pneumatic devices, electrical and electronic systems
  • Follow and write calibration programs, JSA’s, procedures and electronic systems
  • Assist in the training, coaching, and mentoring of other technicians
  • Inspect, analyze, and diagnose a variety of digital communications and electronic signals using various testing meters and devices
  • Test solid-state circuitry and find defective parts in digital and analog equipment and repair/replace defective parts
  • Work with various electronic sensors including, Magnetic, Coriollis and Turbine flow meters, Ultra Sonic Temperature transmitters and other various process and mechanical measuring sensors
  • Install enhancements and major upgrades to field and shop equipment
  • Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical and electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures
  • Load software, settings and calibrations on PLC equipment
  • Troubleshoot PLC related issues, including hardware, communication, and signals
  • Maintain the equipment in accordance with the company required standards and provide relevant training to the crew members on their maintenance duties
  • Consult with operators to troubleshoot and solve problems with equipment
  • Perform Root Cause analysis on all repairs
  • Test repaired equipment and sign off that it is ready for work
  • Provides in-shop and in-field support
