About The Position

The Field Crew Lead oversees daily field operations for construction projects involving tank construction, welding, rigging, component installation, and blueprint interpretation. Working under the direction of the Field Supervisor, this role provides hands-on leadership, enforces safety standards, supports project coordination, and helps ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to specification.

Requirements

  • OSHA 30 training required.
  • 3–5+ years of construction experience in welding, rigging, tank building, or related trades.
  • Strong knowledge of crane and rigging practices; applicable certifications preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
  • Experience installing mechanical or structural components.
  • Proven leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety, accountability, and professional conduct.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs., work at heights, and perform manual labor in active construction environments and varying weather conditions.
  • Availability to work full time, including overtime and travel to job sites as required.
  • Reliable transportation and adherence to company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily field activities and coordinate crews to ensure safe, efficient, high-quality work.
  • Enforce company safety policies, conduct or assist with toolbox talks, and hold crew members accountable for required PPE and safe work practices.
  • Identify, stop, and report hazards, unsafe behavior, and near-miss events immediately.
  • Serve as the site point of contact when the supervisor is addressing other operational priorities.
  • Promote teamwork, clear communication, professionalism, and a positive job-site culture.
  • Use required construction and business software, including Procore, Paylocity, Fleetio, and KPA.
  • Perform and oversee welding, tank construction, rigging, and component installation in accordance with project specifications and quality standards.
  • Assist with crane and rigging operations, including rigging selection, equipment checks, signalperson duties, and crane operation as trained and required.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, direct crew activities, and verify that tools, materials, rigging, and equipment are available for daily operations.
  • Ensure components are installed according to drawings, specifications, and manufacturer guidelines, and correct deficiencies promptly.
  • Support planning, scheduling, progress reporting, and job documentation, and communicate manpower needs, issues, and delays to management.
  • Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality, enforce attendance expectations, and address performance or behavioral issues as needed.
