About The Position

Tuff Shed is recruiting a Field Construction Technician – DOT to support delivery, warranty service, sales, and customer service for its storage buildings. The technician delivers buildings to Home Depot stores, customer properties, and retail sales lots; performs warranty repairs at customer sites; and provides management with feedback to help determine warranty eligibility. The role also supports off-site events such as Home Shows and helps maintain Home Depot displays and marketing materials. The technician must comply with Tuff Shed and DOT requirements for recording on-duty hours and inspecting the DOT vehicle before and after trips. They keep the AM/OM informed about vehicle service and maintenance needs, report defective or worn tools to management, and ensure the vehicle’s GPS device remains connected and operational.

Requirements

General knowledge of the construction industry, basic carpentry, basic roofing, and basic painting skills.
Ability to read a tape measure, working drawings, and a speed square.
Ability to operate air compressors, air tools, a hammer, a saw, a drill, and other basic power tools.
Customer service and problem-solving skills.
Ability to read, write, and understand oral, written, and diagram-form instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively with customers, business partners, suppliers, co-workers, managers, and the general public.
Ability to use mobile application systems for tasks such as scheduling and reporting.
Ability to solve problems using sound logic and good business judgment.
Experience driving a flatbed truck, box truck, and/or towing trailers, and unloading and transporting materials.
Experience with vehicle inspections.
Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR).
Ability to meet DOT requirements.

Nice To Haves

Basic understanding of building permit requirements for the local territory or region.
Experience as a “big box” delivery driver.

Responsibilities

Safely deliver Tuff Shed storage buildings to Home Depot stores, customer properties, and retail sales lots.
Perform customer warranty repairs effectively, efficiently, courteously, and within scheduled timeframes.
Provide management with feedback to help determine warranty eligibility.
Deliver excellent customer service to current and prospective Tuff Shed customers.
Support off-site special events, including Home Shows.
Assist with the management and upkeep of Home Depot displays and marketing materials.
Log on-duty hours using the provided Electronic Logging Device (ELD) in compliance with Tuff Shed and DOT requirements.
Inspect the DOT vehicle before and after trips and log pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
Keep the AM/OM informed of DOT vehicle service and maintenance requirements.
Report defective, worn, or inoperable tools and related equipment to management in a timely manner.
Ensure the vehicle’s GPS device remains connected and operational.
