About The Position

K&A Power Group is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Field Construction Coordinator to join their team in Auburn, New York. This role offers the opportunity to work on impactful projects in the energy and utility sectors within a dynamic, people-focused team environment where contributions are valued. The Field Construction Coordinator will provide essential support to resolve problems proactively, manage reporting, monitor schedules, and ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout project execution.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressive related electric utility industry experience, with transmission facilities construction management.
  • Two (2) years of college is preferred.
  • Construction Project Engineer Background Preferred.
  • Distribution line work experience required.
  • MS Suite Required – with high competency in MS Excel.
  • Knowledge of NRA clearances and switching orders would be beneficial.
  • Applicants should have the knowledge, experience, and skills needed to review project plans, specifications, contract enforcement, and applicable technical standards, OSHA and other regulatory statutes.
  • Detailed work experience in electrical Utility transmission UV/OV & civil construction.
  • Must have current US Work authorization and valid US Driver License in good standing.
  • Minimum of 5 years of supervisory capacity experience.
  • Knowledge of GPS Systems & knowledge of SAP are preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications and drawings and convey interpretations to contractors.
  • Ability to investigate and solve construction problems in a timely manner with minimum dependence on others.
  • Computer and Administrative skills.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able and willing to attend training in E-STAR/CONVEX (switching and tagging).

Responsibilities

  • Provide field support to resolve problems proactively.
  • Complete and submit weekly and monthly reports, tracking weekly PayIds.
  • Monitor the project schedule, comparing look-ahead schedules with the Project Manager's (PM) schedule.
  • Attend contractor's Safety, Environment, and Quality meetings and provide input.
  • Maintain and update the onsite H&S, Environment, and Quality project binder.
  • Document project progress to provide a clear paper trail.
  • Review contractor invoices and schedules, providing feedback.
  • Conduct weekly project progress meetings.
  • Request a two-week look-ahead schedule from the contractor at each weekly meeting.
  • Observe contractor's activities frequently to ensure work is being performed as expected.
  • Immediately notify the PM of any problems, foreseeable issues, or complaints from the general public.
  • Coordinate material delivery between the Customer Stockroom and the Contractor.
  • Inspect all project-related construction materials for damage and completeness.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure workmanship conforms to specifications, quality standards, and construction schedules.
  • Facilitate the resolution of construction problems, discrepancies, procedures, and methods by collaborating with engineering personnel, inspectors, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Minimize Change Orders by supporting the Project Manager in reviewing contractor claims for additional payments, schedule adjustments, or other modifications.
  • Review and understand project documentation to enhance constructability, considering schedule, cost, and quality.
  • Maintain daily on-site as-built project plans.
  • Communicate continuously (written and verbally) with the associated PM.
  • Adhere to company policies, programs, procedures, and Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP).
  • Ensure all requirements are maintained throughout project execution.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by encouraging open communication, reporting unsafe conditions, and suggesting improvements.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, conduct safety inspections, and identify potential hazards.
  • Initiate distribution outage requests for project work through E-STAR and/or CONVEX.
