About The Position

At Phasor, we specialize in the engineering and design of overhead and underground transmission and distribution systems, substations, fibre optics, substation and transmission foundations, panel fabrication, and the testing and commissioning of medium and high-voltage electrical infrastructure. We are seeking a highly motivated Field Commissioning Lead to join our field services team on a full-time basis. This is a field-based, shift position requiring extended periods of travel and work away from home. In this role, you will lead the testing and commissioning of MV/HV systems, protection & control schemes, and critical electrical infrastructure from construction through energization. This role offers meaningful technical work and long-term growth for those who enjoy solving complex technical challenges, leading technical teams, and collaborating with experienced commissioning professionals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology Diploma, or Power Systems Electrician Journeyman certification
  • 4+ years of commissioning leadership experience within utility or MV/HV environments
  • Hands-on relay testing and commissioning experience
  • Experience working with substations, protection & control systems, and utility infrastructure
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work extended rotations and travel to project sites as required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Omicron testing equipment is considered a strong asset

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team in the testing and commissioning of power system protection & control schemes in the utility, power generation, and oil & gas industry.
  • Read and interpret drawings and troubleshoot / resolve technical issues.
  • Manage direct reports and delegate tasks as needed.
  • Report preparation and submission.
  • Assist with generation of commissioning startup procedures or work instructions.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety practices as per corporate, client, and industry standards.
  • Initiate and/or respond to customer inquiries, discuss trouble details and confirm resolutions.
