About The Position

The Field Claim Specialist - Road will report to a Field Claim Manager and will be responsible for upholding our commitment to help customers get back on the road to recovery, quickly, fairly and with ease after a claim. The incumbent will virtually prepare repair estimates using photos or videos and negotiate supplements with repair shops.

Requirements

  • Provincial appraiser license (GAA) and proficiency in French and English required.
  • Technical diploma or equivalent training in auto body repair.
  • Experience estimating vehicles using ADP or Mitchell tools.
  • At least 1 to 3 years of experience in auto damage estimating.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to obtain the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Guidewire ClaimCenter, auto insurance policy, and auto repair procedures.
  • Good computer skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Willingness to obtain the Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) designation.

Responsibilities

  • Review photos of damage and claim information documented in the claim file to confirm that the damage is a result of the claim.
  • Prepare an accurate estimate of the visible damage.
  • Explain repair estimates to customers and negotiate a settlement.
  • Explain the rental process.
  • Ensure that objectives are met in accordance with appropriate measures, including quality, quantity, timeliness, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Provide coaching and in-field feedback to team members as requested by the manager.
  • Recommend and implement changes and improvements to policies, methods, best practices, processes, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Support the establishment of successful partnerships with agents and brokers.
  • Ensure compliance with GAC policies, regulations, legislation, and ethics, and meet requirements including Sarbanes-Oxley, privacy, security, and governance to ensure proper risk management.
  • Participate in seminars related to the auto repair industry.
  • Continuously provide technical advice to claims unit assistants and advisors.
  • Make claim decisions that are consistent with departmental best practices and the authorization levels of the position.
