About The Position

The Field Assistant is a key line-level position responsible for assisting with the alteration, maintenance, repair, cleaning, and general upkeep of Recreation premises. This job description is not an all-inclusive list of the duties and responsibilities of this position. PCI Employees are expected to perform all duties and responsibilities necessary to meet the goals and objectives of applicable programs and departmental objectives, as assigned. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • One (1) year of related employment experience in the landscaping, athletic field maintenance, or grounds upkeep field required.
  • Must possess “Groundskeeper U” certification or obtain within ninety (90) days of employment.
  • Must possess First Aid Certification, including CPR and Life Saving, or obtain certification within ninety (90) days of official date of hire in this position.
  • Must possess certification of “Mandatory Reporter Training” or obtain during the first week of employment.
  • Must possess “ServSafe Certification” or obtain within thirty (30) days of employment.
  • Ability to work odd and irregular hours, as needed.
  • Must possess a valid state driver’s license and insurable driving record according to Tribal insurance guidelines.
  • Must successfully pass the required criminal and character background check.
  • Ability to travel and participate in required training, leadership development, and other events.
  • Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of this position adequately and successfully.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow organizational policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of athletic field preparation, painting, turf care, and game-day field setup.
  • Ability to operate mowers, tractors, and other grounds maintenance equipment.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 50 pounds and working outdoors for extended periods.
  • Dependable, accountable, and committed to completing assignments safely and efficiently.

Nice To Haves

  • Additional licenses or certifications such as Settling of Landscape Plants or Sports Field Management 101 are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform grounds maintenance tasks including mowing, trimming, edging, fertilizing, mulching, and litter removal.
  • Maintain and prepare athletic fields, including baseball/softball field upkeep, game-day setups, painting, and equipment placement.
  • Operate and maintain grounds equipment, irrigation systems, and athletic field maintenance tools.
  • Assist with repairs and maintenance of facilities, plumbing systems, pumps, valves, and recreation equipment.
  • Apply chemicals and treatments to fields and grounds as needed to control weeds, pests, and disease.
  • Support maintenance of recreation facilities, batting cages, pools, sidewalks, and outdoor areas.
  • Perform routine cleaning, safety checks, and general upkeep of Recreation facilities and grounds.
  • Safely operate Tribal vehicles, light equipment, and specialized maintenance equipment.
  • Assist with special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
