About The Position

ICF is seeking On-Call (Temporary) Archaeologists to assist senior archaeologists primarily in fieldwork. Tasks include survey, testing, evaluation, data recovery, and construction monitoring. Other duties may involve laboratory analysis, background research, report preparation assistance, and other assigned tasks. This role requires excellent field skills, the ability to identify pre-contact and historic-period artifacts, and meticulous field note-taking. The position may involve travel for up to 10 days and requires working outdoors in all weather conditions. On-Call employees are scheduled for work hours as they become available, with the flexibility to accept or refuse assigned hours. They may also work on concurrent projects outside of ICF as long as there is no conflict of interest.

Requirements

1+ years of field experience in archaeological monitoring and survey
Valid driver’s license and successfully pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check.
Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with ICF senior staff and construction personnel
Knowledge and familiarity with computers and smart devices is critical
Background in pre-contact or historic-period archaeology is required
Ability to conduct field visits at locations throughout Southern California
Active 40-hour HAZWOPER training
Experience working with and communicating with construction crews
