About The Position

At SCIENION, you will help customers unlock the full value of advanced life science technologies long after the sale is closed. As an Application Scientist in our Service & Support group, you will be the trusted expert customers rely on for training, application guidance, and troubleshooting. This is a field-based role for someone who enjoys combining scientific depth with hands-on problem solving and direct customer impact. SCIENION develops advanced technologies that support innovative life science and diagnostic applications. Our teams combine science, engineering, and customer expertise to help customers achieve reliable results with complex workflows. We operate in a highly international environment with close collaboration across service, support, development, and commercial teams. This is a field-based role covering North America, with travel up to 80% and occasional trips to the EU and Asia. It is part of the Service & Support organization, with a clear focus on after-sales customer support. Primary responsibilities include customer training, application support, troubleshooting, and workflow optimization in the field. Commercial awareness is valued, but the core purpose of the role is to strengthen adoption, satisfaction, and long-term customer success.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, biotechnology, microfluidics, materials science, analytical chemistry, or a related field.
  • Hands-on experience in areas such as single cell processing, NGS, mass spectrometry, medical diagnostics, or biosensor development is highly desirable.
  • Strong scientific communication and training skills, with the ability to explain complex applications to diverse customer audiences.
  • Independent, proactive, solution-oriented mindset with willingness to travel extensively and support customers across multiple countries.
  • Fluent English required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a customer-facing scientific role such as applications support, field support, technical service, or customer training.
  • Ability to work confidently across biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering topics.
  • Additional languages are an advantage.
  • Commercial awareness and business understanding, while remaining focused on after-sales support and customer success.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver customer training, technical presentations, and application guidance to support successful use of SCIENION technologies after installation.
  • Serve as the primary scientific contact for application questions, troubleshooting, workflow optimization, and problem solving in the field.
  • Support customers and internal teams with technical documentation, training materials, and accurate records of support activities.
  • Collaborate closely with service, support, development, and commercial colleagues to relay customer feedback and improve customer experience.
