About The Position

This is a remote opportunity for a Field Airborne Support Team Avionics Tech IV. The role requires 100% travel and the ability to be on-call, dispatched within two hours of contact. The position is recruiting in the Southwest region (Louisiana, Oklahoma, New Mexico, and Texas). The purpose of this role is to provide guidance while performing operational and functional tests and repairs of avionics/electronic aircraft equipment and systems to ensure a defect-free aircraft. The technician will provide superior technical expertise in testing, troubleshooting, and repairing system discrepancies to minimize schedule impact. This role also requires demonstrating the knowledge and leadership skills to define and implement process changes to reduce cost and meet schedules without compromising safety or quality, and to fill in for the team leader, ensuring safety and quality are enforced while adhering to daily work plans.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 6 years experience in an avionics/electrical career field; or two (2) years of accredited schooling in aviation electronics and four (4) years related experience.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.

Nice To Haves

  • A & P license, FCC license or NCATT certification preferred.
  • Preferred proficiency in the operation and troubleshooting of other aircraft systems or other disciplines, such as hydraulics, landing gear, flight controls, environmental controls or structural installations and repairs.
  • APU run qualification and engine run qualification preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and schematic diagrams.
  • Self-inspection capability for all avionics testing functions in applicable areas.
  • Formal training in Gulfstream product line maintenance procedures and practices preferred.
  • Must possess a working knowledge of company policies and procedures, Repair Station and QC Manual, pertinent process specs, and tech reference materials.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate superior technical skills and expertise in avionics and aircraft systems operational testing, maintaining test equipment, electronic systems and troubleshooting as required.
  • Provide training to personnel to support cross-training goals while ensuring a safety-conscious, quality-oriented, skilled workforce.
  • Be On-Call available, with the ability to be on site or dispatched on the FAST aircraft within two hours of the initial contact from Gulfstream.
  • Communicate effectively with the customer, technicians, FAST flight crews, Tech Ops, Field Service Rep and Site Leadership.
  • Responsible for planning, scheduling, and supervising assigned FAST Technicians as needed.
  • Perform, oversee or coach the installation and functionally testing of electrical/avionics components and systems per Engineering specifications, drawings and maintenance manuals ensuring a defect-free system.
  • Ensure quality and efficiency of installations, troubleshoot and teach troubleshooting processes/concepts to provide timely, quality repairs of malfunctioning systems.
  • Coordinate with the Inspection Department to ensure compliance with internal and FAA inspection and documentation requirements.
  • Act as delegated Quality representative as assigned on road trips.
  • Properly complete work order sign-offs, logbook entries, shift turnovers, expense reports and all paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Ensure that work accomplished meets quality standards and specifications.
  • Enforce the company FOD program, tool control program, 5-S program and all safety regulations.
  • Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with the customer; providing one-on-one direct familiarization briefings with the customer during the road trip.
  • Provide regular updates on aircraft status and all customer support activity to Field Service Rep and management.
