We are seeking a skilled Fiber Optic Technician to join our production team supporting defense, aerospace, government, and commercial programs. The successful candidate will be responsible for the assembly, termination, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation of high-reliability fiber optic cable assemblies and related electronic/cybersecurity hardware. This is a 100% in-facility role with no field work or on-site customer visits.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 1+ years’ of related experience
  • Background in basic electronics, including soldering, use of hand tools, and safe handling of electronic components
  • Excellent documentation and communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) for documentation, test reports, and production tracking
  • Strong manual dexterity and attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with MIL-SPEC fiber assemblies (e.g., M28876, MIL-PRF-85045, QFOCA, TFOCA-II)
  • Experience with fiber optic connectors or harsh-environment cable systems

Responsibilities

  • Prepare fiber optic cables and coper data cable using hand tools including jacket strippers, Kevlar shears, fiber optic strippers, and strip-length templates
  • Terminate, polish, and inspect fiber optic connectors and data cables (LC, SC, ST, FC, SMA, MIL-TAC, expanded beam, RJ 45, 38999 etc.)
  • Build and test custom fiber optic and copper cable assemblies following engineering drawings, work instructions, and quality standards
  • Perform insertion loss, return loss, continuity, and OTDR testing using industry-standard equipment (EXFO, VIAVI, AFL, etc.)
  • Perform soldering on PCB assemblies, wiring harnesses, and low-voltage interconnects (through-hole and basic surface-mount where applicable)
  • Install and secure components inside mechanical enclosures and chassis, including standoffs, brackets and cable routing
  • Follow mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and assembly instructions for electromechanical builds
  • Conduct functional checks, continuity tests, and visual inspections on completed devices
