About The Position

The Fiberglass Repair Technician performs repairs on gel coat, including fixing scratches by sanding, buffing, mixing, and spraying gel coat. This role involves altering or modifying designs for optimal performance, maintaining detailed records of repairs and parts, and tracking replacement part work orders for shipping. The technician will communicate repair needs to various departments, including Purchasing, Quality, Final Finish, and Luxury, and is expected to become a subject matter expert in all fiberglass part repairs. Adherence to safety protocols, including wearing personal protective equipment, and maintaining a clean work area are essential. Other duties as assigned may be part of the role.

Requirements

  • GED or equivalent preferred.
  • Previous lamination experience preferred.
  • Must be able to read and understand instructions.
  • Ability to understand spoken instructions regarding job training and safety concerns.
  • Ability to speak conversational English.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed finishing of all products.
  • Ability to deal with changes related to equipment use and productivity.
  • Requires reasonable physical stamina.
  • Requires standing for 10+ hours a day, bending, walking, stooping, reaching, kneeling, crouching, and climbing in/out of boats.
  • Talking, hearing and normal vision are required.
  • Willing to work all areas of patching: glass, final finish, service, luxury, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Performs appropriate repair to gel coat; remove scratches by sanding and buffing; fixes deeper scratches by mixing gel coat, working it down and spraying it.
  • Alter or modify designs to obtain specified functional or operational performance.
  • Keeps records on repairs and parts used in repairs.
  • Moves parts to and from workplace.
  • Track replacement part work orders and prepare for shipping.
  • Communicate repairs needed cross functionally to Purchasing, Quality, Final Finish, and Luxury departments.
  • Become subject matter expert across all fiberglass part repairs.
  • Wear necessary personal protective equipment aligning with Crest safety protocols.
  • Keeps work area clean.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
