About The Position

The Fiber Yard Operator is responsible for staging the baled and loose raw materials for the paper mill. They will be operating intermittently Fork-Lifts, Front End Loaders, and/or Bobcat mobile equipment in a 24/7 operation working 12 hour shifts in a 4 shift rotational concept. They must be able to get on and off equipment regularly, understand inventory procedures, some basic computer skills, and be able to communicate clearly with the team and their supervisor. They must be able to read orders, possess basic mathematical skills, complete documentation, and be able to operate various types of small to medium sized industrial mobile equipment.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or GED Equivalent.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Ability to read orders.
  • Ability to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to get on and off equipment regularly.
  • Ability to operate steering controls, hand levers, and/or two foot pedals.
  • Excellent depth perception.
  • Ability to operate a steering wheel, hydraulic levers, foot pedals, and a handheld scanner.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Drug testing/Screening.
  • Background Checks.
  • Physical exam.
  • Reference Checks.
  • Wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (glasses, ear plugs, shoes, gloves, etc…)
  • Demonstrates a proven record of learning aptitude.
  • Participate in ongoing educational certificate training program provided.

Nice To Haves

  • Post-secondary educational degree (2 to 4 year degree from college, university, technical-school, military, vocational or other advanced educational institution) is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Staging baled and loose raw materials for the paper mill.
  • Operating Fork-Lifts, Front End Loaders, and/or Bobcat mobile equipment.
  • Getting on and off equipment regularly.
  • Understanding inventory procedures.
  • Communicating clearly with the team and supervisor.
  • Reading orders.
  • Completing documentation.
  • Operating various types of small to medium sized industrial mobile equipment.
  • Preparing reports legibly and properly.
  • Communicating orally with all personnel in the plant.
  • Climbing up onto various types of industrial equipment truck and operating steering controls, hand levers, and/or two foot pedals.
  • Occasionally climbing up a ladder.
  • Maneuvering equipment and raw materials around crowded areas with co-workers nearby.
  • Frequently getting on and off equipment.
  • Using hand tools, specifically cutting pliers.
  • Ensuring guards are in place.
  • Following lock-tag-try procedures.
  • Observing hazards such as nip points.
  • Following plant and department safety rules.
  • Operating a handheld scanner.
  • Observing immediate area for safe operation of mobile industrial equipment in crowded areas.
  • Maneuvering items by hand.
  • Housekeeping, including washing up, sweeping, and shoveling debris.
  • Performing other tasks as required by Mill Management.
