About The Position
The Yard Operator performs a variety of duties and is responsible for operating heavy and light equipment to load, unload, and process scrap materials. In addition, the equipment operator is responsible for buying, grading, sorting, and processing scrap metals.
Requirements
- Previous experience with heavy equipment
- Experience using hand tools and power tools
- Mechanically inclined
- Excellent Customer Service

Responsibilities
- Load or unload scrap metal materials as needed
- Transport and load materials from one place to another
- Perform pre- and post-operation inspections on equipment and vehicles
- Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on equipment and vehicles
- Wash, lubricate and fuel equipment and vehicles
- Dismantle/disassemble or take apart components
- Utilize software for purchasing scrap metals
- Sorting, grading, and processing scrap metals
- Ensure a clean and orderly workplace; clean and prepare site by removing debris and possible hazards
- Maintain various records and/or logs
- Exercise excellent customer service while communicating and assisting our customers
