About The Position

The Fiber Technician plays a critical role in the construction and maintenance of fiber optic networks, ensuring high-quality connectivity for residential and commercial clients in the Phoenix, AZ area. This position involves the installation, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of fiber optic cables and related equipment to support reliable telecommunications infrastructure. The technician will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and other field personnel to meet project deadlines and maintain safety standards. Attention to detail and technical expertise are essential to accurately interpret blueprints, schematics, and work orders. Ultimately, the Fiber Technician ensures that fiber optic systems are installed and maintained to optimize network performance and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Basic understanding of fiber optic technology and construction practices.
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and physically perform tasks such as climbing poles and lifting equipment.
  • Experience using fiber optic testing equipment such as OTDRs (Optical Time Domain Reflectometers) and power meters.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in fiber optic installation and splicing (e.g., ETA Fiber Optics Installer or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working as a fiber technician or in a related telecommunications role.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and OSHA standards relevant to construction and telecommunications.
  • Knowledge of network infrastructure and telecommunications protocols.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Install, splice, and terminate fiber optic cables according to industry standards and project specifications.
  • Perform testing and troubleshooting of fiber optic networks using specialized equipment to identify and resolve issues.
  • Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and work orders to plan and execute fiber optic installations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including test results, service reports, and inventory usage.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies while working on job sites and in various environmental conditions.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors to ensure project milestones are met.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing client concerns and explaining technical information clearly.
